What happened: Don Mattingly indicated he would like to manage the Philadelphia Phillies beyond this season if approached. He is currently working under an interim tag and noted that any decision ultimately depends on what David Dombrowski prefers.

Why it matters: Mattingly's public interest provides clarity on his intentions as the organization navigates the rest of the schedule. The front office will need to weigh his performance in the interim role against other potential candidates.

What to watch: Leadership will evaluate the managerial situation as the regular season progresses.
