What happened: Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes told BBC that when Michael Carrick took over as manager, the team never expected to be third in the Premier League at this point. The quote comes amid reports of strong form under Carrick. Fabrizio Romano shared the remarks originally from BBC.

Why it matters: Third place keeps Man Utd in contention for Champions League spots with games remaining in the regular season. It reflects the transformative impact of Carrick's leadership, as previously noted by Tuchel praising the team's progress. Boosts confidence for a top-four finish.

What to watch: Monitor Man Utd's remaining fixtures and any shifts in PL standings for title race clarity.
