What happened: Florida State has fired head coach Mike Norvell following a 36-24 loss to Clemson. The university agreed to buyout terms to terminate his contract after seven seasons.

Why it matters: Norvell departs after compiling a 41-39 overall record with the program. The dismissal reflects escalating pressure to overhaul football leadership following back-to-back underwhelming campaigns.

What to watch: Florida State will name an interim coach while conducting a national search for Norvell's replacement.
