What happened: The Group I meeting between France and Iraq was halted at Lincoln Financial Field as an approaching thunderstorm moved over Philadelphia. France led 1-0 at the stoppage, and spectators in uncovered sections were directed out of the seating bowl as a precaution while the teams waited inside the stadium. Officials signaled a decision on resumption would come within roughly 30 minutes.

Why it matters: A weather stoppage at this stage carries real competitive weight, since the result shapes the Group I table and France's path through the tournament. A prolonged delay or restart can disrupt rhythm, substitutions and conditioning for both sides, turning a one-goal margin into a more volatile situation once play resumes. For Iraq, trailing with limited time to recover, the interruption is both a reprieve and an added test.

What to watch: Watch for the organizers' resumption call, expected within about half an hour, and whether play continues the same day or is pushed back, along with how each side handles the restart from a 1-0 scoreline.
