What happened: Pierre Gasly was noted by race stewards for exiting the pit lane on a red light during the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The incident occurred as the driver accelerated out of the Alpine garage, which is positioned toward the exit end of the pit lane. Stoppage lights had been deployed while track workers conducted barrier repairs at Turn 1.

Why it matters: Leaving the pit lane under red light conditions carries strict scrutiny from the FIA, typically risking time penalties or grid drops depending on mitigating circumstances. With Alpine's pit garage situated close to the pit exit line, reaction windows to sudden signal changes are exceptionally tight. Any penalty assessed would complicate Alpine's track position and points prospects in the competitive midfield.

What to watch: Race stewards will evaluate telemetry and pit exit timing to determine whether a formal penalty or reprimand is warranted.
