What happened: Lando Norris went long into his pit box during a tire change at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The deep approach delayed the front jack from raising the chassis and slowed the crew from removing the wheels. Timing screens registered a six-second stationary stop before Norris returned to the circuit.

Why it matters: The delay compromised Norris's track position after running in second place behind race leader Kimi Antonelli prior to the pit sequence. The lost time reduced his margin over George Russell as the field cycled through their mandatory pit stops.

By the numbers: Norris entered the pit window running in second place before dropping to a fifth-place finish at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, crossing the line one position ahead of Russell in sixth.

What to watch: Teams will review pit lane entry telemetry and box approach marks ahead of the next round on the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
