What happened: The New York Giants traded up to the 74th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting wide receiver Malachi Fields from Notre Dame. The Giants did not originally have a third-round pick. Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman called Fields 'a competitive SOB' who called his own shot.

Why it matters: The selection bolsters New York's receiving options for the 2026 season. Fields' praised competitiveness could aid their rebuild. It caps a trade-up detailed earlier today.

What to watch: Monitor Giants' remaining draft picks and Fields' fit in OTAs.
