What happened: The Giants and Vikings remain the favorites to land Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, per The Athletic's sources. Taylor is still under contract in Indianapolis, which paused talks on him Thursday.

Why it matters: Both suitors are in the NFC playoff picture: Minnesota is 6-1 in 2026 through 7 games and holds the No. 2 seed, while New York is 4-2-1 and holds the No. 3 seed. Wire Report previously noted that the Giants and Vikings had inquired on Taylor as the Colts held firm.

By the numbers: Taylor has 148 carries for 610 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2026 through 8 games. Indianapolis drafted him 41st overall in the second round of the 2020 draft out of Wisconsin. The Vikings lost 15-19 at Detroit in their last game, and the Giants won 27-21 at Houston in theirs.

What to watch: The trade deadline is the next checkpoint, and the Colts' firm stance on Taylor will be tested by then.
