What happened: Five contributors are nominated for the 2027 class, among them Canton Bulldogs owner Ralph Hay, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Bears owner Virginia McCaskey. The contributors committee will choose one of the five as a finalist.

Why it matters: Under the new system, that contributor joins the pool of 15 finalists, which includes 13 players and one coach. Voters select six from the pool for induction.

What to watch: The committee meets Nov. 17 to name the contributor finalist.
