What happened: Jon Heyman listed five names he calls the most intriguing ahead of the trade deadline: Mason Miller, Tarik Skubal, Joe Ryan, Zach Neto and Foster Griffin. Miller is already on the Padres roster, while Skubal, Ryan, Neto and Griffin remain with their current clubs as the deadline approaches.

Why it matters: Skubal headlines the same top-target group that also includes Ryan, with Detroit's willingness to move him shaping the rest of the market. Neto and Griffin's presence on the list signals demand extends beyond the top-tier arms into position players and depth pitching.

What to watch: Watch for movement on Skubal, Ryan, Neto and Griffin as the deadline nears.
