What happened: Illawarra has been gauging the import market to fill an open point guard spot, according to ESPN's Olgun Uluc. Discussions currently focus on veteran guard Derrick Walton Jr., with talks still in the active stage.

Why it matters: The NBL club opened an import slot after parting ways with Darius Days on Sept. 24. Landing a primary ball-handler would stabilize a backcourt rotation currently leaning on Milton Doyle and Dan Grida.

What to watch: Negotiations between Illawarra and Walton's camp remain ongoing as the club looks to lock in its final import spot for the NBL27 campaign.
