What happened: Jacob Fowler will make his preseason debut in goal for the Montreal Canadiens. The start comes shortly after the Canadiens recalled Jacob Fowler to the active roster.

Why it matters: Fowler's immediate insertion into the lineup provides an extended look at the organization's goaltending depth. The severity of Montembeault's absence could significantly alter Montreal's rotation as the regular season approaches.

What to watch: The Canadiens will evaluate Fowler's performance while awaiting official word on Montembeault's return timeline. Further roster moves may follow depending on the medical diagnosis.
