What happened: Jalen Brunson scored on an interior basket during play at Madison Square Garden. The shot added to New York's offensive output as the team sought back-to-back home victories.

Why it matters: Brunson continues to anchor the offense following offseason left wrist surgery, returning to full health as the regular season gets underway. He remains central to the offensive scheme after Steve Nash evaluated his floor leadership earlier this month.

What to watch: Brunson and New York look to sustain momentum as early regular-season play continues.
