Jets sideline three as training camp opens

Patrick and Baron go to PUP; Sweat lands on NFI

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Jul 251 min read

We've placed WR Tim Patrick and EDGE Tyler Baron on the active/physically unable to perform list. We've also placed DL Via @nyjets on X

What happened: All three received active-list designations, preserving the option to return to practice during camp. Patrick is a wide receiver, Baron an edge defender and Sweat a defensive lineman.

Why it matters: Patrick agreed to terms in May, adding a veteran option to the receiving corps. Sweat arrived in a March trade, while Baron is entering his second NFL season.

By the numbers: Patrick played 16 games in 2025, catching 15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Sweat appeared in 12 games, while Baron played six.

What to watch: Their eligibility to return during camp makes activation the next checkpoint. Until then, receiver and defensive-front repetitions remain available to other players.
