What happened: Baker Mayfield has missed three games with a dislocated right thumb. He practiced fully for a third straight day Friday and is listed questionable, and coach Todd Bowles said 'it looks like he's ready to go.' Tampa Bay ruled out wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot), offensive tackle Luke Goedeke (calf) and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (rib). Carolina ruled out outside linebackers Jaelan Phillips (hamstring) and Thomas Incoom (calf), who both missed all three practices.

Why it matters: The Buccaneers come into the NFC South game at 1-5 after a 26-19 home loss to Pittsburgh. Getting Mayfield, a full participant all week, back under center comes at the cost of a receiver, a tackle and a safety. Carolina sits at 3-2 and the No. 3 seed after a 25-14 win at Philadelphia, but plays without two edge rushers.

By the numbers: Mayfield in 2025: 343-of-543, 3,693 yards, 26 TD, 11 INT in 17 games. Winfield in 2025: 93 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INT in 17 games. Records: Panthers 3-2 (W2), Buccaneers 1-5 (L1). Cleared after illness: RB Bucky Irving, CB Zyon McCollum (full practice Friday, no designation).

What to watch: Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. Carolina's Monroe Freeling (knee) and Bam Martin-Scott (hamstring) are questionable, and Martin-Scott must be activated from his injured reserve practice window to play.
