What happened: Per PFF, Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon, who generated defensive player of the week buzz on 17 snaps in his season debut, accumulated his four sacks across one full game and the first drive of Thursday Night Football. He became the first defensive back since 1985 to record three sacks and two forced fumbles in a single game last week before adding a fourth-down sack to open Week 7.

Why it matters: Selected 39th overall out of Washington in the 2022 NFL Draft, Gordon has already quadrupled the one sack and seven tackles he posted across three games in 2025. The closest chasers include 2026 second-round pick Brandon Cisse of the Green Bay Packers at 52nd overall out of South Carolina and fourth-round rookie Keionte Scott of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 116th overall out of Miami. New York Giants cornerback Dru Phillips, the 70th overall pick in 2024 out of Kentucky who totaled 66 tackles and two interceptions over 17 games in 2025, also needed the full season slate to reach two sacks alongside Ja'Quan McMillian.
