The Lakers have added C Lawson Lovering on a two-way deal and are waiving AK Okereke. Team desperately needed another C Via @DanWoikeSports on X

What happened: Los Angeles agreed to a two-way contract with center Lawson Lovering via agent Drew Kelso of One Motive Sports, per Mike Scotto of HoopsHype and Dan Woike. To clear the roster spot, the franchise waived forward AK Okereke, who originally claimed the final two-way slot during the offseason.

Why it matters: The transaction addresses an urgent interior shortage by bringing another center into the building for the 2026-27 regular season. Shifting that two-way spot from the wing to the frontcourt gives the coaching staff added size following a 136-129 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

What to watch: Okereke now enters the waiver process while Lovering joins Los Angeles for upcoming regular-season availability.
