What happened: Leeds United have tied captain Ethan Ampadu to a new four-year contract, extending his stay through the summer of 2030. The extension secures a major piece of their long-term squad planning.

Why it matters: The renewal is a crucial first step in summer squad planning, securing a player who has become untouchable in the setup. It anchors the midfield after Leeds United secured Premier League safety during the 2025-26 campaign.

What to watch: The club will look to build around their captain as they aim to establish themselves further in the Premier League next season.
