What happened: RC Lens under Pierre Sage have locked up Champions League football and sit second in Ligue 1 with the season winding down. The push gained fresh weight after 16-year-old Mezian Mesloub scored five seconds into his Ligue 1 debut to help beat Nantes and seal the milestone. Lens now turn from securing Europe to preparing for the French Cup final later this month.

Why it matters: This matters because Lens are playing for both prestige and silverware at once: direct Champions League qualification is secured, while a domestic cup remains on the table. It also keeps pressure on the top of Ligue 1 and sharpens the betting focus on Lens' final league matches and their final against Nice.

What to watch: Watch how Lens handle the immediate turnaround with PSG next in league play before the Coupe de France final against Nice on May 22. The remaining question is whether Sage's group can convert qualification into a trophy and hold second through the finish.
