What happened: The Detroit Lions placed linebacker Jack Campbell on the reserve/injured list on Saturday. Detroit also signed defensive back Nick Whiteside to the active roster from the practice squad. In addition, the team elevated edge rusher Anthony Lucas and running back Jabari Small from the practice squad.

Why it matters: Campbell was ruled out with a neck injury after previously reporting full lower-body movement earlier in the week. His move to injured reserve sidelines a team captain and central starter from Detroit's defense.

What to watch: Detroit faces the Miami Dolphins on Sunday without Campbell in the middle of the defense.
