What happened: Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic is listed out with back tightness and LA Clippers forward Brandon Ingram remains out following right heel surgery for Wednesday's matchup in Inglewood. The intracity meeting proceeds without either of the star replacements acquired to succeed LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard, per Law Murray of The Athletic.

Why it matters: Both Los Angeles franchises opened their first season since 2018 without James or Leonard, reshaping the rivalry around new primary options. Doncic's absence leaves the Lakers without their lead playmaker on the second night of a back-to-back, while the Clippers continue to operate shorthanded on the wing.

What to watch: The Lakers and Clippers meet Wednesday night in Inglewood as both clubs manage early-season frontcourt and backcourt absences.
