What happened: Malachi Toney surpassed his own previous program benchmark for receptions in a single contest before the fourth period began. The wideout caught every one of his first 14 targets on the afternoon before pulling in his 15th reception.

Why it matters: One day earlier, Pittsburgh defensive back Raion Strader publicly backed his unit's scheme to contain Toney. Instead, the Miami pass-catcher built on a campaign in which he had already recorded 39 receptions for 604 yards across his first five appearances.

What to watch: With the fourth quarter still to play, Toney has an opportunity to push the new single-game school mark even higher.
