What happened: Bayern Munich have officially confirmed that Manuel Neuer will remain at the club for another season, extending his stay into a 16th campaign in Bavaria. The announcement, relayed by Fabrizio Romano, formalizes a deal that had been in the final stages for over a week. Backup goalkeeper Sven Ulreich is also set to continue behind Neuer as the No. 2.

Why it matters: Keeping Neuer removes any short-term succession uncertainty in goal and signals Bayern's preference for continuity at the position heading into next season. The captain remains central to the dressing room and to a defensive structure that has leaned on his sweeper-keeper presence for over a decade. It also defers the broader question of who eventually replaces a club icon.

What to watch: Watch for the official club announcement with contract length and any captaincy or role language. Bayern's summer transfer plans behind Neuer — particularly any longer-term goalkeeper investment — become the next storyline.
