What happened: Bobby Marks reported the second wave of free agency has opened, with Draymond Green returning to Golden State and James Harden agreeing to join Cleveland. Marks listed seven teams still carrying two or more open roster spots: Cleveland, Denver, Golden State, the Clippers, Miami, Minnesota and New York.

Why it matters: The vacancy count signals which contenders still have work to do assembling their 2026-27 rosters before camp. Golden State's roster math follows directly from Draymond's decision to decline his $27.7 million option last month, and Cleveland adding Harden reshapes a backcourt already remade this summer.

By the numbers: Open roster spots by team: Cleveland (3), Denver (3), Golden State (4), LA Clippers (2), Miami (3), Minnesota (2), New York (2).

What to watch: Teams with multiple vacancies are expected to keep working the market to round out rotations before training camp opens.
