What happened: Mike Trout launched his 17th home run of the 2026 season on Wednesday, a towering solo shot to straightaway center field against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The blast follows a series of strong performances that have kept Trout near the top of the American League All-Star ballot updates.

Why it matters: The home run provides a critical power surge for an Angels lineup struggling to find consistency in the AL West standings. With Trout currently holding second place in AL All-Star voting, his continued health and production are central to the franchise's mid-season identity and potential trade-deadline leverage.

What to watch: The Angels conclude their series in Arizona on Thursday before returning home, as Trout looks to further cement his starting spot for the July All-Star Game.
