What happened: MLB Trade Rumors includes Marte in its trade-candidate list during the 2026 postseason. He was the focus of an All-Star campaign in June.

Why it matters: His status shapes winter infield plans and payroll flexibility. Lovullo said Marte missed games without permission in four straight years.

What to watch: Formal talks can emerge once the World Series ends and the winter market opens.
