What happened: Trey Murphy III has signaled a desire to play elsewhere, according to Sam Amick. The Los Angeles Clippers and the Brooklyn Nets are described as "out in front" in the race to acquire the New Orleans wing this offseason.

Why it matters: A Murphy III move would reshape New Orleans' roster direction heading into the 2026-27 season and hand either the Clippers or Nets a two-way wing in his prime. It follows reporting that New Orleans had set a high threshold while fielding offers on Murphy III, signaling the asking price will be steep.

What to watch: Watch whether the Clippers or Nets meet New Orleans' price and how the situation develops through the offseason.
