What happened: Jim Nantz recalled Mike Ditka carried only $100 bills and peeled them off to pay and tip without taking change. The anecdote circulated days after Ditka died at 86 following a Hall of Fame playing and coaching career.

Why it matters: The detail adds a personal note to a week of public tributes from around the league. Former players and fellow coaches have shared their own encounters with Ditka in recent days.

What to watch: Further tributes are expected around memorial arrangements.
