What happened: The Carolina Panthers turned to Todd Wash as interim defensive coordinator after dismissing defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. The decision came after Carolina fell 27-19 to the Green Bay Packers. Wash assumes play-calling duties with previous NFL defensive coordinator experience.

Why it matters: Evero remains well regarded across the league, with potential interest from teams seeking defensive assistance such as the Los Angeles Rams, per Albert Breer. Carolina now seeks immediate defensive stabilization under Wash following consecutive defeats.

What to watch: Wash will guide the Panthers' defense heading into their upcoming schedule. Evero is expected to draw interest on the open market as an in-season addition or future coordinator candidate.
