What happened: Alonso tied the game in the ninth against the Mets with his 300th career home run. Mets fans answered with a standing ovation and a curtain call as his New York return became the night's central moment.

Why it matters: The homer pushed Alonso's Mets exit back into focus a day after it had already resurfaced as a late-season talking point. It also landed with New York already out of the postseason race, turning one swing into a fresh reminder of what left the lineup.

What to watch: Watch whether Alonso adds to the milestone total in the coming days and how long his return keeps driving the Mets conversation.
