What happened: Pete Alonso tied the game with his 300th career home run in the ninth inning at Citi Field. The milestone came in his first game back there since joining Baltimore, and the crowd gave him a curtain call.

Why it matters: Round-number home run milestones carry instant historical weight, and No. 300 landed in front of the fan base that watched him become a star. The swing also changed the late-game pressure, turning a return-night subplot into a result-shaping moment for Pete Alonso.

What to watch: Watch whether the milestone homer becomes the pivot point in the final innings and whether Alonso gets another high-leverage plate appearance before the game ends.
