What happened: Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson told teammates he intends to return this season after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured and dislocated right thumb. Baltimore placed Jackson on injured reserve on Nov. 5 following the procedure.

Why it matters: The Ravens acquired quarterback Jacoby Brissett to stabilize the offense and sustain postseason contention during Jackson's absence. Coming off a 33-10 loss to Jacksonville, Baltimore's ability to stay afloat in the standings will determine whether a late-season return remains meaningful.

By the numbers: Jackson has completed 68 of 97 passes for 967 yards with six touchdowns and one interception in 2026 through five games.

What to watch: Brissett prepares to take over under center while Jackson begins his rehabilitation process.
