What happened: Real Madrid have opened talks with Inter Milan regarding a potential transfer for center-back Alessandro Bastoni. The pursuit follows an agreement to sign Ibrahima Konaté as manager Jose Mourinho looks to rebuild the Spanish giant's backline with two elite central defenders.

Why it matters: After two seasons without a major trophy, Los Blancos are aggressively restructuring their defense under Mourinho's direction. Inter Milan have reportedly set a €70 million valuation for the 27-year-old Italian international, who is prioritized over other options like Nico Schlotterbeck due to his left-footed profile and Serie A experience.

What to watch: Expect further developments if Mourinho provides the final green light for a formal bid. Real Madrid are also monitoring Inter's Denzel Dumfries as part of the broader negotiation between the two clubs.
