What happened: Red Wings ownership told NHL.com Dylan Larkin could remain with the club for the full season even with his trade request standing. Larkin has said he will attend camp as the preseason opens.

Why it matters: Larkin already rejected the Flyers as a destination, narrowing the trade market. Kane's exit to Chicago on a two-year, $18 million deal further thins veteran presence if Detroit carries an unresolved request into the season.

What to watch: Watch Larkin's status on the first day of camp and whether Detroit re-engages on trade talks.
