What happened: Noelvi Marte has recorded a .424 on-base percentage and .567 slugging mark across 33 plate appearances for the Gigantes del Cibao, homering to center field Sunday alongside winter roster mates Carlos Jorge, Marcell Ozuna, and Agustin Ramirez. In the Arizona Fall League, Peoria Javelinas outfielder Yerlin Confidan went 7-for-12 last week with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and four runs scored while batting .314 overall. Meanwhile, 20-year-old catching prospect Alfredo Duno hit a Friday home run in the Venezuelan Winter League, becoming the youngest player in that circuit to go deep this season.

Why it matters: With the Cincinnati Reds seeking position-player help this winter, offseason league production gives internal candidates momentum heading into 2027 camp. Marte is rebounding from an August demotion to Triple-A Louisville, while Duno became just the second 20-year-old in the past two seasons to homer in the Venezuelan circuit.

By the numbers: Marte hit .273/.291/.374 with one home run across 103 plate appearances at Triple-A Louisville following his mid-August option. Confidan batted .255/.332/.405 with 15 homers across 527 plate appearances between High-A Dayton and Double-A Chattanooga in 2026 before logging three batted balls over 110 mph across 42 autumn plate appearances. Reds rookie Carlos Jorge is 2-for-18 with a two-run homer, two walks, and nine strikeouts through eight games with the Gigantes.

What to watch: Confidan slots into left field and the cleanup spot for Peoria on Monday while the Tampa Bay Rays host the Milwaukee Brewers in World Series Game 3.
