What happened: Denver Post reporter Troy Renck questioned why Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman was left out of the Home Run Derby field despite hitting 27 home runs this season. Renck noted Goodman wanted a spot and had planned to have his father pitch to him in the event.

Why it matters: The exclusion drew pushback from Rockies fans and followers questioning the derby's selection criteria for an All-Star with a 27-homer season. Goodman earned his second straight All-Star selection earlier this month.

What to watch: Watch for whether MLB or the Rockies address the derby field decision before All-Star festivities.
