What happened: Behind the plate in Tuesday night's 12-inning contest, the same William Contreras whose defensive effort drew league recognition earlier in October contested a pitch call during Yandy Diaz's plate appearance. Neither player escalated the situation, treating the post-challenge pause with mutual good humor despite elimination stakes.

Why it matters: Contreras enters the late stages of the Fall Classic as the World Series MVP favorite behind his two-way play at catcher. Diaz remains a focal point in the opposing lineup as the series extends following Tuesday's extra-inning walk-off finish.

What to watch: Both veterans return to action in World Series Game 5 after Tuesday's finale extended the series.
