What happened: Carrick called Buffalo one of the easiest groups he has joined. He praised the energy in the room and said he could not be happier to be a Sabre.

Why it matters: Buffalo is sorting center depth entering the 2025-26 season. An early fit eases lineup evaluation during camp. Veteran integration also steadies special-teams and fourth-line competition.

What to watch: Watch where Carrick slots in drills and preseason lineups as camp progresses.
