What happened: Restricted free agent Tari Eason has agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million contract to return to the Houston Rockets, and the deal is fully guaranteed. The agreement keeps Eason in Houston through the 2030-31 season at an average annual value of $16.3 million.

Why it matters: Houston resolves one of its remaining restricted free agency questions and retains a core piece of its young rotation heading into the 2026-27 season. The commitment lands in the same window as Houston's trade sending Dorian Finney-Smith and three second-round picks to Charlotte, sharpening the Rockets' forward rotation around their homegrown talent.

What to watch: Watch for the Rockets to formalize the signing and for how Eason's role in the forward rotation takes shape as Houston rounds out its roster for the 2026-27 season.
