What happened: Running back David Montgomery (groin), safety Jalen Pitre (shoulder), offensive tackle Blake Fisher (thumb) and safety Reed Blankenship (concussion and hand) will not play on Sunday. Wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) is listed as questionable following an injury that sidelined him for the end of 2024 and the entire 2025 season, though he is expected to suit up. Tight ends Dalton Schultz (quadriceps) and Brevin Jordan (foot) returned to full practice participation on Friday and are cleared for action.

Why it matters: The simultaneous absences of Pitre and Blankenship leave Houston without two key safeties as the 2-4 club looks to extend its two-game winning streak. Montgomery and Pitre remain sidelined after both were ruled out for the London game on Oct. 15 after initially being listed week-to-week on Oct. 12. Having Schultz and Jordan cleared stabilizes the tight end rotation while Dell works back into the passing attack.

By the numbers: Houston holds a 2-4 record and the No. 13 conference seed in the 2026 regular season, riding a two-game winning streak after a 34-31 victory on Oct. 18. Per ESPN, Schultz caught 82 passes for 777 yards and three touchdowns across 17 games with the Texans in 2025, while Pitre recorded 74 tackles and four interceptions in 14 games in 2025 and Montgomery rushed 158 times for 716 yards and eight touchdowns over 17 games in 2025.

What to watch: Houston will release its official inactive list 90 minutes before Sunday's kickoff to finalize Dell's status for his 2026 season debut. Montgomery, Pitre, Fisher and Blankenship will next have a chance to return to practice ahead of Week 8.
