What happened: Minnesota plans to activate running back Jordan Mason from injured reserve on Saturday if his recovery from a thumb injury stays on track, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Vikings opened Mason's practice window on Oct. 19 after placing him on short-term injured reserve in September. Head coach Kevin O'Connell listed the fifth-year Georgia Tech product as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts after he practiced in full all week.

Why it matters: Mason's return restores a two-back rotation alongside veteran Aaron Jones Sr. for a Minnesota squad holding the No. 2 seed at 5-0. Running backs DeeJay Dallas and Devin Neal helped 11. Pairing Mason with Jones gives the unbeaten Vikings their primary ground tandem back entering the midseason stretch.

By the numbers: Minnesota enters the weekend at 5-0 on a five-game winning streak, holding the No. 2 seed following its 23-13 win at New Orleans on Oct. 11. Mason is in his fifth NFL season out of Georgia Tech, while Jones was selected 182nd overall in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of UTEP.

What to watch: Minnesota must formally activate Mason to the 53-man roster on Saturday for him to suit up on Sunday against Indianapolis. Final game-day active and inactive designations will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff.
