What happened: Kansas City closed Sunday 30-27. Walker gives Mahomes the ground support he lacked out of the backfield.

Why it matters: Balance changes Kansas City's ceiling alongside Mahomes' legs. That edge matters with Las Vegas pushing atop the AFC West.

By the numbers: Paced NFL rushing leaders Sept. 24; Chiefs closed Oct. 5 with 30-27 final.

What to watch: Next is whether Walker holds the rushing lead into mid-October.
