What happened: Walker Kessler progressed to live drills during Sunday's practice, head coach JJ Redick announced. The Los Angeles Lakers center was restricted from contact on Saturday while managing a left pinky finger injury.

Why it matters: The offseason acquisition has yet to make his preseason debut. The Lakers are working to integrate him into their defensive scheme ahead of the regular season, though his immediate exhibition availability is unresolved.

What to watch: Redick has not committed to Kessler playing in Tuesday's preseason matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
