What happened: The Chicago White Sox signed right-hander Alec Marsh to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training. The 28-year-old starter last pitched in the majors for the Kansas City Royals in 2024, where he made 25 starts.

Why it matters: The Chicago White Sox add starting depth without using a spot on the 40-man roster. The low-risk deal provides rotation competition heading into camp while offering Marsh an opportunity to earn his way back onto a big-league staff.

What to watch: Marsh will report to big league spring training to compete for a spot on the pitching staff.
