What happened: Of the 13 baskets by Williams and Johannes, 10 came from 3-point range. They took 19 shots in the stretch.

Why it matters: Group winners advance directly to the quarterfinals, while second- and third-place finishers face an extra qualification round. Efficient perimeter scoring carries added weight in that compressed format.

By the numbers: The pair shot 68.4% from the field. Three-pointers supplied 76.9% of their points.

What to watch: The group phase closes Sept. 7. Qualification games follow Sept. 8-9 before the quarterfinals on Sept. 10.
