Quite a year for Jameis Winston. https://t.co/LV64g7iifz

What happened: Jameis Winston takes over as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants following a likely season-ending knee injury to Jaxson Dart. Senior NFL writer Albert Breer noted the veteran's unusual 2026 timeline, which included a summer stint as a FOX World Cup correspondent before his return to the field.

Why it matters: The quarterback change forces the Giants to recalibrate their offense around the veteran for the remainder of the regular season. Winston stepped into Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams after the injury, connecting with Darnell Mooney for a 33-yard gain but also throwing an interception to Trent McDuffie.

By the numbers: Winston has gone 0-for-4 on throws of 20-plus yards early this season. He previously averaged 22.1 fantasy points per game in contests where he played at least 95 percent of snaps since 2024.

What to watch: The Giants will prepare Winston for his first start of the campaign as they restructure their passing attack.
