What happened: Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached a verbal agreement to appoint César Peixoto as their new head coach. The move follows the club's relegation from the Premier League after a difficult 2025-26 season that saw them finish bottom of the table.

Why it matters: Peixoto arrives after leading Gil Vicente to a sixth-place finish in Portugal's Primeira Liga. He is tasked with overseeing an immediate promotion push from the Championship, returning to the club's established model of utilizing Portuguese tactical leadership.

What to watch: The appointment is expected to be formalized in the coming hours as the club begins its Championship rebuild for the 2026-27 season.
