What happened: Right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson is headed back to the Toronto Blue Jays, his old organization, after the Minnesota Twins traded him for cash. The deal comes after Woods Richardson was designated for assignment by Minnesota. The move returns the pitcher to the franchise that originally developed him.

Why it matters: Toronto reacquires a familiar arm at minimal cost as it looks for rotation and bullpen depth. For Minnesota, the cash return on a designated player clears a 40-man roster spot after a difficult stretch on the mound. The reunion gives Woods Richardson a fresh chance with the club that knows him best.

What to watch: Watch how Toronto deploys Woods Richardson — whether he slots into the rotation, moves to the bullpen, or reports to the minors to reset.
