What happened: The Yahoo Sports link places New York in the early-offseason window as the 2026 World Series closes. New York enters that window with the rotation set and bullpen work ahead.

Why it matters: An early blockbuster pursuit would set payroll shape before names and terms surface. Outfield alignment is the parallel roster question that will constrain how far New York can go.

What to watch: Watch for named targets and reported terms to test whether this link advances.
