On the bump, and making his @MLB debut: Yunior Marte! 🎊 https://t.co/zFormkE3Ga Via @SFGiants on X

What happened: The right-hander started Game 2 of Sunday’s doubleheader after being selected from Double-A. His promotion followed three August starts in the minors.

Why it matters: The assignment caps a two-level climb during the 2026 season. It also gives Marte a late-season opportunity to establish a major-league role.

By the numbers: Marte posted a 3.92 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 64.1 Double-A innings. He went 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 16 innings in August.

What to watch: Marte’s workload and next assignment will indicate whether Sunday was a spot start or the beginning of an extended stay.
